Exercising Your Way To A Smaller Waist Line – Everything That You Need To Know

Posted on 24 October 2010 by Personal Fitness

Weight loss workouts work wonderfully if you know how to do them right. Unfortunately, many people just waste their time on exercises that just don’t work and don’t give the best results. In other words, they work out and work out, but they see only minimal results. What you want to do is get the most results in less time. So learning how to lose weight fast is a great first step to make.

In order to really achieve your fat burning goals, you have to look at different things that affect your weight. For starters, consider your diet. Overeating, binging, or whatever you want to call it will always give you a weight problem. Avoid ingesting useless calories which have nothing good to offer you in any way, shape, or form. Obviously, these are all found in different types of junk food.

If you need to keep eating a certain amount of calories, then you should fill yourself with useful ones instead. For example, instead of chips, choose nuts. They still give you the crunch and still have lots of calories, but they are extremely important calories that will work for your body. Additionally, you should start eating smaller portions of meals. Instead of two or three round meals, turn to five or six everyday. Eating less at each sitting will help your body digest quicker and burn off fat better.

Now you can take advantage of some really good workout sessions. The muscles that you work on each session must be given a break of at least 24 hours. They need this time of relaxation in order for you to see some excellent results.

One good and recommended weight loss workout includes squatting. Not only do you get excellent results from it, you save a good amount of time while doing it. For example, your legs get worked out with this type of exercise, but it doesn’t end there. In addition to that, you are also building on your core strength in the abdominal section, as well as your buttocks.

You may even consider adding some aerobic exercise to your routine, which is a good cardiovascular exercise. Any type of exercise that you do should be started off at an easy pace with you working your way up gradually. Many people overdo it and injure themselves when exercising. However, this will only put a damper on your goals as you won’t be able to continue your workouts until you recover.

Another good tip is to avoid constantly going to scale to see where you stand in terms of pounds or kilos. Before you start dieting and start exercising, measure yourself with a measuring tape. Measure your arms at the bicep, the waistline, etc. Make sure you write down the measurements exactly, perhaps using a diagram.

I hope that you now understand how to lose weight fast. Give yourself a couple of weeks of exercise and weight loss workouts with your weights, and then measure yourself once more. You will probably see a drop in all those numbers you’ve already listed. It’s the inches that will count, even over what the scale says.

There Is No Right Fat Burning Exercise Regimen – Just A Best One For You

Posted on 13 August 2010 by Personal Fitness

First comes the decision to lose weight. Soon after that, you learn that fat loss will not occur without exercise. You now have to research the various exercise options available to you. Now you will have reached the point where “the rubber meets the road” – you must select your exercise regimen and do it.

To achieve fat and weight loss, you will also need to change your diet.

Experts agree that fat burning exercise has a bigger impact on fat loss and weight loss than diet. This is because when you do regular exercise, you increase your metabolism. An increase in your metabolism will result in more fat burning for you thoughout every day. But you must also address your diet, if fat loss is your goal.

How Do You Define Fat Burning Exercise?
When you exert yourself physically to a certain level, for a certain period of time, you are doing exercise that will burn fat. What is exertion for one person is not exertion for another. The rate of the activity you choose to do will need to be greater, the fitter you are. There are formulas to help you to determine the correct exertion level for you. But, these formulas can be complex. A simple rule of thumb to guide you on this is the following

  • Are you somewhat out of breath from the activity (not gasping for air)?
  • When you feel the back of your neck and small of your back, is there some sweat?
  • While you are doing your exercise, are you able to carry on a conversation with someone?

You likely will lose fat, if you adhere to these 3 points, when you exercise. You will find that the more you exercise, the fitter you will become. As you increase your level of fitness, to burn fat you will have to increase the rate of the exercise you do.

What Are The Different Types Of Fat Burning Exercise?
You can categorize the various forms of exercise as aerobic or anaerobic. Sometimes aerobic exercise is referred to as cardio vascular exercise. It requires oxygen for energy; anaerobic does not.

Your body uses fat for energy when you do aerobic exercise. During anaerobic exercise, fat is not the energy source for your body. When you exercise anaerobically, your body uses carbohydrates for energy.

Some examples of aerobic exercise are jogging, brisk walking, swimming and bike riding. Examples of anaerobic exercise are strength and resistance training or running a 100 meter or 200 meter race etc. When you play a game of tennis, it can be aerobic and anaerobic. You will be exerting yourself completely for a period of time. When you are doing that, it is anaerobic. It is aerobic, when you are not exerting yourself as much.

To rid your body of unwanted excess fat, you will need to do a minimum of 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily. To burn more fat more quickly, you can do 45 minutes at a time or 30 minutes twice during the day.

If you want to burn more fat, you can do strength training, which is anaerobic exercise.  It results in increased muscle mass, which burns fat faster. Your metabolic rate will increase as you add muscle mass. A higher metabolism means more fat burning every day, even when you are inactive. But, you need to know that fat burning doesnt happen during anaerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is fat burning exercise.

Is Fat Loss What You Really Want?
You really do not have a choice about whether or not to exercise; you must exercise for fat loss to occur. If you dont, you will not achieve your fat loss and weight management objectives. You will need to change your mindset about using your body increasingly for the rest of your life.

Walk up stairs whenever you can , instead of using the escalator. Try parking your car further from your destination and give yourself a longer walk to where you are going. Each day, you can walk your dog on an extra walk. You can begin to increase your metabolism by finding things to do, that you dont usually do, and doing them.

Now you are at the point when you must make your decision on your exercise regimen and make a start on it.

What Exercise Routine Will You Do?
There is a lot to know before deciding upon the best exercise regimen to burn fat for you. Noone can tell you that a particular exercise program is good or bad. However, there is a regimen that would be effective for you and that works best for you.

The key is to choose the right one for you. Getting this wrong will impede your progress and will result in upset and frustration for you. It could even lead you to abandoning your weight loss efforts.

Do you think that you are going to follow an aerobic exercise regimen or an anaerobic one? Or will both be a part of your exercise program? Are all types of aerobic exercise equally efficent when it comes to burning fat?

You will find answers to these questions and others that you may still have at the Fat Burning Exercise website.

Exercises to burn Fat and build Muscle

Posted on 06 September 2009 by Personal Fitness

In general when looking to to lose a few pounds or more most people start a cardio training program to help burn fat. This requires you to start cycling, running and walking or using such equipment as the rower in the gym.

As fat burning exercises these can be successful but are they as effective as everybody thinks? Contrary to popular belief over usage of cardio training may actually harm your fat burning efforts.

This is because excessive cardio training can result in a loss of lean muscle mass resulting in a lower metabolism and if you have a lower metabolism you will be burning less fat. A common result of this is people who lose size but at the same time lose muscle. The loss of muscle results in a much slower metabolism meaning that diet and training must be consistent to stop weight gain.

A further key point is that moderate cardio training only keeps your heart rate elevated for maybe 1-3 hours after finishing your workout. Therefore the capacity to burn lots of fat in the “after-burn” of exercise is restricted.

So with these points in mind it now seems that the best fat burning exercise are the ones that build lean muscle and are performed at a higher intensity to create a much stronger and longer fat stripping post exercise metabolic state. So make sure that in your goal to lose fat start you include lots of free weight and body weight exercises.. However not all these type of  exercises are suitable for fat burning and your focus should be multi joint movements that use many different muscles in the body thereby increasing the amount of energy used and increasing the level of intensity of the training.

The chief exercises  you should perform on a regular basis are:

Squats – Perform various types using free weight dumbbells and Barbells (No Machines!)

Deadlifts – Again to be performed with Dumbbells and Barbells

Chest and Shoulder Presses – No Machines if possible

Push ups- Use varying techniques to increase the difficulty

Pullups -  Very difficult for most people only perform if you can do full range of movement. If you cannot do this exercise then use lat Pulldowns

Lunges – Vary between front, reverse and side.

Rows – Bent over Rows and cable rows

There are lots of variations of these exercises and I would recommend you investgate further to get more ideas.

As you perform these exercises focus on keeping the intensity high. This requires using heavier weights (weights where you can only manage 6-10 reps) and taking less than 60 seconds rest between sets to maintain an elevated heart rate. I also recommend incorporating training techniques such as super sets where you go from one exercise straight to another then rest. This would be one set. An example of this would be doing 8 reps of deadlifts then performing 8 reps incline chest presses straight away. This has a better effect if opposing muscle group exercises are chosen.

If boredom is creeping into your exercise regime then think seriously about doing free weights in your workouts. They may just be the answer to getting the results you want.
