Exercise Your Way To A Luscious Lunch

Posted on 05 June 2010 by Personal Fitness

I file online restaurant menus in my desktop computer. I post a few from my favorite restaurants around my computer workstation desk. They may not be within walking distance of my job but they are within reach of my bicycle.

People who know about my affectionate relationship with fantastic food ask how I stay so fit. I am a bit of a health nut that loves the taste and smell of a well prepared meal. This can be a problem when you work downtown and have a sixty minute lunch break.

Working downtown means I have to contend with heavy traffic and little parking. It is nearly impossible to eat or workout during a lunch hour. I found a solution that works great.

I do not drive. I do not walk to lunch. I separate my ride from the other diamondback bikes parked just outside our office complex. This is my answer to transportation troubles.

There are many private chefs that supply a different dish on a routine basis to the local bistros. I do not contend with bumper to bumper cars or waste time hunting for a parking space. I eat great and pedal away calories.

I can go farther than I did when I would walk to lunch. The extended range means I have a bigger selection of meals. Riding the bike means that I am exercising my heart, lungs, and cardio-vascular systems.

I have a matching backpack to my bike. I could use a wire basket but prefer the secure pack to carry my leftover food and other items. My beverage bottles are snug on the outside trap holders.

I am eating better and more varied lunches now. I burn a lot of calories by riding my bike. I am physically fit and feel refreshed after lunch instead of drowsy.

Our company is now offering additional bike racks and free bike locks to riders. They know that incentives work and healthier employees are better producers.

I enjoy a wider selection of midday cuisine, exercise without sweating, reduced stress levels, and increased health. This is a terrific way to solve some of the problems associated with working downtown.

Remember to take responsible precautions to help law enforcement officials if your ride is stolen. You can print or email photos of your bike instantly from your computer, describe the private symbol etched on the frame, and use a quality chain lock.
