Increase Your Fitness Without Leaving Home

Posted on 13 August 2010 by Personal Fitness

Many of us know that doing some form of exercise is important especially as we get older. For many, their reason is to try to live longer and healthier lives as they try to deal with the resulting effects of a mostly sedentary lifestyle. For others, it may be a need to lose weight that encourages more exercise. Whatever your reason may be, many of you will be eager to know that there is a way to exercise without necessarily leaving the confines of your home.

Exercising at home appeals to many different people. In the hustle and bustle of today’s world, there are only a few who can afford that extra time to go to a gym or sports club, or attend fitness classes. Exercising at home cuts out sitting in traffic, remembering everything you need to pack in the gym bag, and nobody will be watching you while you exercise. You can even exercise straight out of your bedroom wearing only your pajamas, and have the luxury of breaking down your whole program into more manageable portions spread throughout the day.

Among the many options of home exercise equipments available in the market, choosing one that fits you will depend on a host of factors. Prioritize first whether your main goal is to achieve a leaner body, be more flexible, or just to get fitter. If your goal is to run a marathon within a year, you may need a little more than an exercise ball to prepare for it.

If you just want to tone up a bit and get more flexible, the aforementioned exercise ball or exercise bands may be ideal. It’s great for stretching and flexing exercises, and they’re great for targeting specific areas of the body for muscle development.

If you want to get reasonably fit, a treadmill, stepping or rowing machine may be the answer. These will not only provide you with a cardio workout that will build up your stamina and fitness, but will also help you to build lean muscle. Outdoor activities like swimming, walking and jogging are also excellent alternatives for this type of training.

Proper use of the equipment can also determine the end result of your workout. Even barbells can provide you with a good workout, used properly. Just remember that heavier weights, which has more resistance, will build muscle with fewer repetitions. Lower weights can increase your fitness level with more repetitions.

The key benefit of having your own equipment at home is that you can exercise at the time that you want for as long as you want. For example, if your schedule only allows you to spare 10 minutes for exercise in the morning before going to work and add another 20 minutes when you get back home, it is entirely up to you. If you suddenly find yourself with a free hour to spare in the afternoon, you may also use it for exercise if you wish to do so. You don’t have to waste  precious time preparing, driving to the gym, changing, and then driving back again. You don’t have to spend money on fancy gear, because no-one but your family will see you anyway. Honestly speaking, it is even possible to increase your fitness level by staying at home and not even buying a single piece of equipment.

What we need now is exercise

Posted on 02 April 2010 by Personal Fitness

As Americans, we are losing it. Actually, we’ve just flat out lost it. The obesity epidemic is out of control and there is nothing in site that seems to be saying it will change at any point in time. The food we eat isnt getting any better, the FDA and the chemical companies are in bed together, laws arent made to protect the people any more, they are made to make more money for those involved.

We have to focus on fitness and change our lifestyles.  We have to start eating better and demanding better food.  The only way companies will change what they are doing is if they start losing money. We need to make changes to our focus and lifestyle.

Physical fitness and proper nutrition is the beginning.  As far as physical fitness goes, one of the best programs that can be used is P90Z. It contains a very well balanced combination of resistance, cardio, yoga, and stretching, and with P90X you get a Independent Beach Body Coach

P90X is a daily workout routine in which the user works out for about an hour a day. That is something that the NFL is promoting currently with their play 60 program.

60 minutes of exercise may sound like a lot, but that is only because we are not used to getting much exercise at all.  For a long time the government was promoting 30 minutes 3 days a week.  Well, either no one is doing it, or its not working, my guess is that it is a combination of both.

We must commit to getting ourselves physically fit, then, we must commit to staying that way and eating right.

There are so many lies we are told about the food we eat it’s flat out incredible.  Milk for example.  Cows milk contains blood and puss. Nauseous? Yea, I was too when I found out.  But its true.  In order to get cows to produce more milk so companies can make more money, they give the cows bovine growth hormone, which makes them over produce milk. Cows arent hand milked any more, they are all milked by machines.  Imagine if we had something of an utter that was constantly milked on for 10 hours a day… raw?  Yes.  Cows get lesions and sores that get infected, and the blood and puss get transfered to the milk.

This is just one atrocity that we live with as far as food goes.  We are at crises time in this country and it has to change.

A Gym Isn’t Essential For Your Workouts

Posted on 25 March 2010 by Personal Fitness

You know that exercise is good for you. It increases your energy level, and improves the appearance of your skin and hair. Lots of people begin exercising to lose weight, but even if you don’t want or need to lose weight, you still need exercise. In addition to being good for your body, it releases chemicals that lift your mood. If you experience depression, exercise can be a wonderful tool to lift your mood.

Since it is common knowledge that exercise is necessary and good for you, you would think that everyone would make a point to do it. However, this is not the case. Lots of people remain sedentary for much of their free time, watching television or working on their computer with custom lcd. They spend lots of money on these gadgets, but claim that they cannot afford to join a health club. This really is no excuse for not working out; gyms and personal trainers are nice luxuries, but you can work out on your own.

If there is a park with running trails or a track nearby where you live, that is a great place to begin exercising. However, you can also just jog on your neighborhood sidewalks. If you live near a high school, they may have a track you can use.

If you are just getting started, you may not be able to jog or run right away. This is okay. You can begin simply by walking. Any exercise that extends beyond what your body is used to will produce results in the beginning.

If you enjoy listening to music while you work out, bring your iPod or CD player. Also, bring a digital sport watch with you, and time yourself. Make sure that you work out for at least 30 minutes. Start out with a warm up to get your body going. You can walk at a slower pace for the first three minutes or so. Then, when your body gets comfortable, pick up the pace and walk faster, or run if you are able to. You will feel your energy level begin to rise, and you will start to get a rush as your body releases endorphins. You may not be able to keep your fastest pace going the entire time, but you can switch back and forth between slower and faster speeds.

Slow down to your warm up pace again about five minutes before you end your workout. Make sure you don’t stop too abruptly. This could shock your body. It needs a bit of time to come down from the speed of the workout.

Exercise is necessary for all of us. It helps you feel better and live longer. While joining a gym can make it more convenient, it is not necessary. You can save the money and still get the exercise. Good luck!

Home Muscle Building

Posted on 07 August 2009 by Personal Fitness

Tired of driving to the gym?  Well with the right advice, working out and building muscle at home can be convenient and produce great results. You can ensure success if the right steps are taken, in a home work out as opposed to a gym membership.

Building muscle at home can and should be easy as long as you have motivation and dedication, and put in the hard work needed for the results you’re looking for.

Although most people think exercise comes first when building muscle, the truth is you need to start eating healthy before you begin working out. When you have a good diet plan in place and you’re eating only healthy foods, it’s time to start focusing on finding the right exercises for your plan to build muscle at home.

Before you start working out, buy the right equipment for your home. The proper weights and accompanying equipment makes home muscle building much safer and more effective. The risk for injury is greater if the right amount of weight for specific exercise is incorrect.

As with most health related issues, consult your physician before starting a home work out program.  In one visit, you can learn how to safely use your weights at home and what is required to shed body fat safely and in the fastest time possible.  A physician can also diagnose any health conditions you should be aware of before you begin working out, and recommend certain lifts you should avoid.

Remember the pros and cons of weight machines and free weights when it comes time to buy equipment.  Free weights don’t restrict movement like machines, and most likely will take up less space in your home. When considering which weights to buy, always consider quality and durability.

Envision the weights in the space you have allotted to work out in.  Do you have somewhere to store them when you’re not working out?   If your home is already short on space, avoid buying a large set of weights or machines and instead look for more economical choices. As they generally require less space than machines, free weights can also be purchased in weight combinations ready to use with several exercises.  Buying the right weights will make muscle building at home easier and more efficient from the start.

Supplementing Exercises For Muscle Building

Posted on 07 August 2009 by Personal Fitness

Bodybuilding focuses more on modification of the body in building up body muscles. It involves intensive exercise. Bodybuilding as a sport with its specific forms of building muscles emerged in the 19th century. The sport involves the display of the physique and muscles in public. During the 1950s, bodybuilding became a popular sport. Muscle training became a specialized field. Usually hydraulic or elastic resistance and weight training are combined in bodybuilding. Workouts are to be followed with specialized diet to provide nutrients for the repair and growth of the muscles. Adequate rest too is compulsory.

Training methods are many. In strength training, strength is built up with resistance to muscular contraction. Muscle contraction is opposed with elastic, hydraulic or gravity forces. As training progresses, there is a steady increase of elastic tension, weight or other resistance. Bodybuilding is consumed by bodybuilders, weight loss aspirants, those undergoing weight training, and athletes. Their performance is expected to improve with the intake of such supplements. They also assist during the recovery process after training as well as events. Their benefits are often doubted. Sports have become overtly commercialized. Investments in advertisement, contracts and sponsorship have made them a business of profits. Consequently, there is pressure exerted on the performers to win at any price. This pressure has led to the use of chemical substances, including anabolic steroids, in order to improve performance. Their use became widespread since the 1970s. Bodybuilding too has not been immune to this trend. Their use did make remarkable improvement in the muscles. But then there were those who did not use them who unjustly lost out. They also posed a major health hazard. Many countries subsequently put such substances under the controlled substance list. These were banned in the use of sports. Doping to detect these in the urine and blood became a standard practice is sports.

Intake of additional protein, carbohydrate and fat are required for bodybuilders. The growth of muscles as well as their repair requires additional food energy after training. This additional food energy can be obtained from natural diets. There are also specialized diet supplements that are also convenient to provide the additional energy. The products that are available in the market include Ny-Tro Pro-40, BSN No-Xplode, BSN Cell Mass, BSN Syntha-6 and Purple Wraath.

The muscles are stimulated with bodybuilding exercises. The growth of the muscles requires adequate rest besides intake of food supplements.

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle Objectives

Posted on 26 July 2009 by Personal Fitness

You’ve paid a fitness subscription, you go to a gym almost daily and still you are already bored with waiting for results to appear. As a matter of fact, you don’t even know what you want. You want to lose weight, but also to gain power and flexibility. Even if you’ve hired a personal trainer, it doesn’t mean that he will help you if you don’t know where to point its efforts. You must decide if you want to develop muscles or loose weight, because the two concepts are different. Trying to lose extra pounds will not necessarily strengthen your muscles if you don’t do it right.

When a man usually goes to a fitness facility, he has in mind the following objectives:

1.Loosing weight

For beginners, the best possible choice are the constant exercises which can be executed in series of 10 or more, one after the other. You can take small brakes between series and then repeat the series again, for a few times.

A good idea is to try and make at least 2 exercises for each muscle group, like arm muscles and abdomen muscles.

2. Allowing muscles to develop

If your goal is muscle building, you should do at least 8 repetitions per series, but use larger weights. The classical fitness recommendations include in this case the making of a series, then a longer brake for about a minute, and only after you finish a series move to a different muscular type.

If you have more experience, you can try the supersets. You can, under these circumstances, pair two groups of muscles and work on them into each series. Usually, the first exercise will include a composed move witch will imply more muscles, and the second one will be an exercise that will insolate a sole muscular group. You can also buy burn the fat feed the muscle program that can assist you in choosing your routine.

3. Developing strength

Physical strengths does not have many secrets, it requires heavy weights and smaller series. Because the series are more solicitant, you can take longer breaks, up to 5 minutes.

Still you don’t have to do each exercise this way. You can start with few repetitions for the main moves, then do more repetitions with smaller fitness weights. The less solicitant exercises will require smaller breaks between them, just like in the above situations.
